As a new wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, DOCUFY is now also able to offer the entire portfolio of software solutions and services provided by Heidelberg Digital Platforms, allowing it to give its customers optimal support on the path to becoming digital enterprises.

Bamberg, Germany, June 7, 2017 – Since May 1, 2017, Bamberg-based DOCUFY GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). DOCUFY and Heidelberg Digital Platforms – two specialists united

By acquiring DOCUFY, Heidelberg is rounding out the portfolio of its Heidelberg Digital Platforms division, particularly with the mobile publication platform TopicPilot, which was developed by the Bamberg-based company. To date, Digital Platforms has provided IT solutions for digitalizing and automating processes in the construction, manufacture, support and servicing of innovative, high-tech products. This division enables Heidelberg to pool the technologies and expertise in product life cycle management that it has gained over several decades in order to provide them to companies outside the graphics industry, in sectors such as the automotive, mechanical engineering, medical technology and industrial high-tech industries. The division serves a global market worth approximately EUR 1 billion. Uwe Reißenweber, who will remain the General Manager of DOCUFY GmbH under Heidelberg, says: "We expect technical documentation to play an even greater role in the future in the context of the digital transformation. In order to be capable of catering properly to the expected growth in the market, we need a strong partner. We are delighted to have found a partner like this in Heidelberg – together, we are pursuing the same strategic goals."

DOCUFY’s TopicPilot makes information mobile

In the age of digitalization, organizing information intelligently is vital. That is why more and more companies that want to use their content throughout the firm and are looking for a way to quickly start exploring enterprise mobility are choosing software developed by Bamberg-based DOCUFY. DOCUFY has launched TopicPilot, an out-of-the-box solution for publishing all company-wide information the easy way on mobile devices, the intranet or the Web. Reißenweber adds: "Heidelberg saw the enormous potential in our concept of making information mobile. By acquiring DOCUFY, Heidelberg has also secured TopicPilot as a complement to its smart factory product and service portfolio in relation to data mobility. Our solutions are a perfect match for each other. Together, we can now provide optimal support to our customers on the path to becoming modern digital enterprises."

In addition to DOCUFY software, Heidelberg solutions now also part of the portfolio
DOCUFY can count a number of renowned industrial companies among its customers, and it will continue to provide these customers with the level of service they have come to expect. In addition to its own solutions, DOCUFY will now also offer innovative software applications developed by Heidelberg, such as View2Connect. View2Connect creates new opportunities for collaboration in the value chain between development, procurement, manufacturing, assembly and service. In 2016, Heidelberg received the Digital Leader Award from IDG Business Media and Dimension Data Germany for the product.

"Through DOCUFY, Heidelberg has gained access to further Industry 4.0 technologies and expertise such as web services, smart devices, internet technologies, augmented reality and cloud computing. By gradually integrating DOCUFY solutions into the overall portfolio of Heidelberg Digital Platforms, we will be able to provide our industrial customers with seamless process support in product life cycle management in the future, which will underline Heidelberg’s pioneering role in the area of digitalization," says Dr. Ulrich Hermann, Management Board Member Heidelberg Digital Business & Service.
